Walking Coaching: how to train your mind outdoor

The Walking Coaching is a practice that combines coaching tools with the activity of moving the body in space, while talking and walking in a natural environment.


Practically, walking consists of the steps that we take to follow a route. From a symbolic point of view, when we decide to embark on a path of personal and/or professional growth, we start with a first step and then we take all the other steps necessary to reach the desired goal.


Coaching helps in this process of transformation through a practical and methodical approach, creating the conditions for coachees to plan and take those steps they intend to.

At the beginning of a new path, there are many ways to reach the destination, as well as the possibilities available. The same happens when a goal is set in a coaching session, there are several options available, and the person might not know the best option for themselves. The coach plays precisely this supportive role, helping the person concerned to have clarity and to make the best decision decide based on their needs.


The act of walking and coaching creates awareness because it brings clarity on what is important to the individual, taking into account their particularity. Every person is unique in their being, therefore a solution that is good for one individual is not necessarily the best one for another person type, with their own beliefs, experiences, emotions, etc.


Thus, coaching follows a focused approach that puts the person at the center, supporting them in identifying the tools available to achieve the awareness that aligns action with the objective - intention.


The place where the process takes place is equally important, because it is where ideas are conceived, whether it is a park or a forest. In a natural environment, the mind becomes calmer, and this is essential to start on the right way while beginning a process of personal and/or professional transformation. It gives the possibility to isolate stress and the many inputs received constantly (telephone, internet, etc.), giving the opportunity to explore new and creative ideas, which help in the process of change.


When the mind is calm, the person is able to gain more clarity and focus, which are important in the decision-making process, both at the individual level and at the group level, while managing a staff. Coaching is therefore suitable both for individuals working on personal goals and for those who want to bring changes to their vision within an organization or company.


Outdoor, ideas are free to flow, moving and advancing with the steps taken. Change in direction of the progress is a process that happens step by step, with perseverance and determination.
